Wave Aid

I have finally learnt how to post photos of my own! Here are some pics from last night's Wave Aid concert, 50,000 people at the SCG raising money for tsunami relief.

Road Trip

Luke & my road trip is going to be great! We're heading up to One Mile Beach at Port Stephens for one night camping there near the beach. Then we've got three nights in a four-star apartment in Byron Bay right near town, where we're just gonna chill and stuff ourselves with fresh local produce and wander up to the lighthouse and be hippies for a few days. Then we've got another night camping in the bush area in this mega caravan park near Coffs Harbour which is also on the beach and has two swimming pools with waterslides and also a floodlit lawn bowling rink!

Australia Day

I spent Australia Day trying to be quite Australian, first I slept in until i woke up, having already declined double-time-and-a-half pay so I could have the day off. Then I eventually whipped up a salad (the other girls weren't arriving til late, someone had to do it, I was the only one that ate it though) and went to Matt's place where we eventually fired up the BBQ and chucked a kilo of snags on it. The guys eventually drank their way thru a case or two of beer... the dog threw up... people spilt beer on themselves...we listened to the Hottest 100, then Mel arrived with a pavlova with all the trimmings. The sun was in our eyes, the barbecue was smoking all afternoon, and we didn't move all day. How Australian of us. Don't you reckon?

Europa 2005

I'm making plans to visit everyone, and be visited by people, in Europe from March onwards. I have now got my accommodation in Tuebingen organised! A little room just for me, in a shared student house.

When I arrive in Germany I need to visit my Australian best friend from primary school Kylie, and also my German best mate Martina, then one week later Luke's brother Nathan arrives in Germany on a work trip, and we haven't even got past March yet!

Click here to look at the live webcam from the Tuebingen town square, it's mounted on the town hall that was built in the 1430's. Yes - 1 4 3 0 's!

Hot goss

There are a few new romances going on over the past few weeks for various friends of mine from far and wide around the world, which is most amusing, and very exciting too for them!

There are also some celebrations happening for some long standing relationships (we know who we are, hey Jo?) that have reached their 5 year mark!!

P.S. we've all heard the "when's the wedding" joke a few too many times by this point. Ha, ha, you're very funny.

An Audience

Well apparently I have an audience for my blog! Which is great, because now I know someone is listening, I could crap on forever, as my work colleagues would attest to.

You guys who are in Tassie at the moment said that it was great after your 5 day expedition to go "home", even though "home" is just back at the Moot site with 500 strangers and a handful of old friends. I know how you feel - I'm house sitting and I already don't know where home is! For the first few days here I just wanted to go "home" - back to my family. Even Luke's house feels more like home than this house, but then again I'm adjusting pretty fast to doing so much stuff on my own in someone else's house. All I keep thinking is that in 7 weeks I'm overseas for a YEAR and I just won't have any idea where home really is!!!!

Home will be any place where the cicadas chirp all night and you walk into spider webs every time you go outside the door. And the people understand me when i speak!

Mmm holidays

I'm house-sitting for friends at the moment and tonight Luke came round and cooked me some dinner! We're about to dig into some Cape Byron chocolate ice cream...

Today we attended a board games day, Jo's long-standing fantasy, and the hours flew by, playing old favourites like Billionaire, Panic, Cluedo, etc... Reminded me of the Artarmon Primary School library!

Where is summer?

Went to the beach today, Dee Why with Sandra, Jo and Dave. As Sandra pointed out, this has become a New Year's Day tradition. Last year, having held my driver's license for one week, I drove her up to the Central Coast to stay at Jeremy's dad's house for a few nights where we did lots of beachy things.

Today was my first actual beach swim of the summer (shocking, I know) - and the water was quite disappointing! 20 degrees, choppy and unpredictable surf, and lots of seaweed. AND i got very sunburnt despite the cloud! (Yes mum, i hear you...) But the company was tops, and I got my pineapple fritter and chocolate ice cream so I was a happy chappy.

Amusement

Setting people up is just so much fun!

Happy New Year!

Our New Year's Eve celebrations were LONG!

Luke & I drove down to Neutral Bay and popped our heads into the guys' pad party before heading down to Kirribilli to visit my grandma & grandpa. After some cookies, we dragged ourselves away from their gorgeous view and my grandpa dropped us back up the hill at Neutral Bay in his Jaguar. Lukey left late afternoon to go to another party (well la-di-da), and the rest of us settled in for the evening.

Finally, after one roast-chook-and-many-beautiful-salads buffet, one bottle of 'champagne' that turned out to be sparking shiraz (red=yuck!), many loud singalong songs, and a few too many spillages on the carpet and various pieces of clothing, midnight arrived - along with the fireworks and the silly disco ball on the Harbour Bridge which we couldn't even see.

The boys all fell in love at first sight with one guest who knew EVERY word to "baby got back", the girls all crashed in various spots on Dave's floor, and well, that was that!
